A local company is entering a new era that includes a new north Fresno office.
As part of an operational shift, Dynaco Food Concepts — franchiser of restaurants including Perko’s Cafe & Grill and Cool Hand Luke’s Steakhouse & Saloon — will leave its south Fresno headquarters of more than 30 years for an office at 10 E. River Park Place near Woodward Park. Dynaco is moving from a 33,000 square-foot office/warehouse to the 4,100 square-foot office in June.Chic Brooks built the original location in an industrial area near Highway 41 just south of Jensen Avenue in 1978. That’s when Dynaco expanded its franchise company to include a food service division, said Deborah Brooks, vice president of franchising and development and Chic’s daughter-in-law. Because of the shifting economy, Dynaco had to streamline operations by outsourcing food distribution and focusing on franchising. As a result, Dynaco reduced corporate and warehouse staffing from 50 to 15 in the last six months. But it still maintains a meat processing plant. Dynaco currently employs more than 150 people at 61 restaurant locations throughout California and Idaho, but the company has goals to become a national chain in the next few years with the addition of restaurants in Texas, Colorado and North Carolina, Deborah said. “With the change in our office location and the fine-tuning of our corporate structure, we are optimistic as we launch into the next year,” she said. Dynaco is a family affair. Randy Brooks, Barbara’s husband, purchased the business in 2003 along with family members and a group of long-time employees. |
