Amtrak San Joaquins has announced that riders will now be able to book upcoming tickets for the new San Joaquins Morning Express train service from Fresno to Sacramento that begins May 7.

Amtrak San Joaquins reorganized its schedule and route planning to ensure that riders from Fresno can board a northbound Amtrak and arrive in Sacramento before 8 a.m.

Stacey Mortensen, executive director of San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority, which manages and administers the service, says that the Morning Express will bring more convenient travel options to Fresno.

“We are excited to be able to now provide this improved service for our passengers, as it will help fill a long-time need in the community for more convenient travel options to and from the State Capitol,” Mortensen said.

The daily Morning Express service will begin on May 7 in Fresno, depart at 4:25 a.m. and make stops in Madera at 4:50 a.m., Merced at 5:20 a.m., Turlock-Denair at 5:42 a.m., Modesto at 5:57 a.m., Stockton at 6:30 a.m., Lodi at 6:44 a.m. and arrive at the downtown Sacramento Valley Station at 7:41 a.m.

The return train will depart from Sacramento at 12:41 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and make stops at each station along the San Joaquin southbound line.

The Amtrak San Joaquins feeds into the larger regional rail network, which includes a connection at the Stockton Station to the Altamont Corridor Express service to San Jose, and a connection to Amtrak long distance routes such as California Zephyr and Coast Starlight services at the Sacramento Valley Station.

Tickets for the Morning Express service can be booked at AmtrakSanJoaquins.com or by calling 1- 800-USA-Rail, or on the Amtrak App.
