A local insurance agency hired a “Young Gun” to star in a new commercial that was filmed in Fresno.

Chowchilla-based Golden Memorial Insurance Services brought actor Lou Diamond Phillips to town for two days last week to film a commercial at a local cemetery, according to a news release.

Phillips is a Golden Globe nominee best known for his roles in “La Bamba,” “Young Guns,” “Stand and Deliver” and “Courage Under Fire.”

Golden Memorial Insurance worked with Phillips to create commercial to promote its final expense life insurance, a service underwritten by Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance.

Phillips flew in from Los Angeles for the shoot, and also dined at local restaurant The Annex Kitchen. Golden Memorial worked with Fresno-based companies Posh-PR, Marketing and Events and Stellar Lense Production to complete the spot.

“We are thrilled to work with Lou Diamond Phillips. He is admirable on and off the screen. We are excited to have him on our team,” said Ray Barragan, president of Golden Memorial Insurance Services, in a statement.
