The SCCCD Board of Trustees has approved the purchase of 30.2 acres of property in Oakhurst at the price of $1.8 million. Approval for the land, which is located on the west side Westlake Drive, north of Highway 49, was made on Tuesday.

The property includes two main parcels and a small “outlet” property donated by the seller — WAA GST Exempt Trust — for use by SCCCD to place campus signage. The negotiated property also overlooks a small pond located east of Westlake.

In 2017, the District, Reedley College and Oakhurst Community College Center began a staff, faculty and community outreach effort to communicate the opportunities of a new campus through Measure C bond funds. Through a site selection process workgroup, four properties were identified as preferred viable options, with the Westlake property being selected.

A press conference will be held Friday on site to discuss the campus.

The property was purchased on the same board agenda that saw the district purchase Downtown Fresno’s Guarantee Savings building for $10 million.
