Police have made three arrests related to an arson incident of the “COS Giant” redwood statue at College of the Sequoias in Visalia.

On May 25 around 1 a.m., the Visalia Fire Department responded to a report of fire on the campus to find the wooden COS Giant statue — a campus landmark since the 1950s — in flames. The fire was extinguished but the statue was damaged.

The initial investigation at the scene by the Visalia Fire Department and the COS District Police Department revealed that a Molotov-style explosive device containing an unknown accelerant was used to set the statue on fire.

A possible suspect in the arson was identified based on suspicious posts found on social media, and investigative and forensic assistance was requested from the Visalia Police Department. Subsequent investigation by the assigned VPD investigator led to the identification of all suspects involved in the crime and the recovery of key video evidence.

Officers of the College of the Sequoias police department served felony arrest warrants for arson and possession of an explosive device on the following suspects today:

Coley Lambert, 20, of Visalia

Robert Mason Flores, 22, of Visalia

Eekanker Stephanie See, 22, of Visalia

All are held on $100,000 bonds.

One additional suspect is reportedly transient and hasn’t been located.

The suspects were booked at the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Facility pending arraignment.
