Madera County elected officials and community members celebrated the opening of Tesoro Viejo’s 14-mile trail system that connects to the San Joaquin River with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 23.

The trail system includes six unique trails designed to connect people with the natural environment, which are suitable for walking, jogging and biking, according to a press release.

“We are taking a comprehensive approach and understanding of our community by providing from the onset trails throughout our community and trails that lead to the San Joaquin River,” said Brent McCaffrey, president of Tesoro Viejo, the housing development and community in the Madera Ranchos area.

The trails span the community and connect neighborhoods to one another and allow for easy walking, running, or biking and for travelers to enjoy the natural settings.

Additional trails travel from the community and feed into the banks of the San Joaquin River.

“Madera County and Tesoro Viejo have been recognized for our efforts to create and maintain a vibrant and healthy community – the opening of these trails will be a testament to that,” said Madera County Supervisor Brett Frazier.
