If you’re a truck driver heading through Tulare, you have a new option for getting food, gas, a shower and maybe a night’s rest.

And even if you aren’t a trucker, you still can stop at the new Pilot Flying J Travel Center on Paige Avenue west of Highway 99 to fill your car’s tank with gas and get other services.

Though the travel center actually opened June 18, on Monday local business leaders and government officials gathered with officials from parent company Pilot Travel Centers, LLC, for a grand opening of the facility, designated on the company website as “Flying J #1071.”

At the grand opening Wednesday, corporate leadership of Pilot Travel Centers, LLC presented Food Link Tulare County with a check for $2,500. Photo contributed.

During that event, corporate officials presented representatives of Food Link Tulare County with a $2,500 check.

Besides having a gas station and overnight, for-pay parking space for large trucks, the Tulare Flying J includes a Wendy’s restaurant and rental showers.
