An online delivery service app is available right out of Fresno for shoppers looking for the more “personal touch.”

Deliver It is an app that gives residents of Fresno, Clovis and Madera the ability to shop virtually any stores from home or office, whether they be major chains or purely local businesses, according to owner Vanessa Gowett.

Users can pick from popular stores that Dumpling — the platform Deliver It runs on — offers or the “Pick-a-Store” option. Customers build a shopping list through the app and payments are made through the app, so Gowett doesn’t have to collect money or make change for users.

What separates Deliver It from other options, Gowett says, is the custom ordering.

She has no problem going to farmers’ markets or even the Girl Scout store, which she’s done before, she says.

Vanessa Gowett first started Deliver It in the Fresno area in December 2018. It was in February that things started picking up, she said. Photo contributed.

“With me, it’s definitely a more personal experience,” Gowett said. “I can get the lighting for your cake or I can write the birthday card if you need it.”

As she works with people more continuously, the relationship builds. One of her customers orders the same thing every Sunday and she knows exactly what he wants and when.

Custom-ordering lets Gowett know exactly what brand of bread a customer may want, and if the order doesn’t make sense, she can clarify through the app.

“The next time I go, I know exactly what taco shells he wants to pick,” she said.

For the time being, Gowett is by herself, running every day and most holidays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. In summer, she may hire another driver or two.

Her website explains the service and provides a link to the app.

The Deliver It app is also available by texting the word “Shop” to 559-554-1498.
