New England-based Bob’s Discount Furniture opened its 111th store this weekend in Fresno, but plans are underway to develop in another Valley city.

The new store opened at the site of the former JCPenney Home Store at the River Park Shopping Center, which closed in late 2017.

“Bob Kaufman opened his first Bob’s Discount Furniture store in Newington, Connecticut on the principle of providing unsurpassed value with honesty and integrity. That’s what we call ‘the Bob’s Way,’ and it guides everything we do to this day,” states the company’s website.

The chain has stores in 18 states, with 15 stores in California. Before the Fresno store opened, the nearest one was in Valencia.

And another, closer one is coming, as a company spokesperson confirmed that Bob’s intends to open a store some time next year in Visalia, though officials haven’t disclosed whether they’ve selected a site in the city to locate.
