Following the reports of Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) at Pet Medical Center & Spa in Fresno, Elaine’s Pet Resorts is now requiring all dogs to have vaccinations prior to staying at its Fresno and Madera locations.

“Our first priority is the health and safety of the pets who visit Elaine’s,” said Howard Nestell, CEO of Elaine’s Pet Resorts. “We understand the burden this may place on some guests, but after conversations with several leading veterinarians we determined this would be best for all of our guests.”

Effective Feb. 15, all dogs will be required to have the first round of the vaccination and have completed the second round by March 1. This is in addition to the current vaccination policy already in effect. Elaine’s will take further measures by limiting daycare services and restructuring playtime over the next two weeks.

Due to the region’s previous lack of confirmed CIV cases, most veterinarians keep low vaccine inventory. Elaine’s has reached out to each of its veterinary partners to inform them of the new vaccination requirements to give them time to ensure an adequate supply is available.
