Fresno-based sandwich chain Deli Delicious continues to see strong growth this year, announcing plans to open more than a dozen locations throughout the state as well as a new franchise support office in Fresno this summer.

Among the new locations opening over the next six months are the chain’s first restaurants in the Central Valley communities of Oakhurst, Atwater, Kerman and Kingsburg. Deli Delicious also recently opened its first location in Chowchilla.
“The response from new markets has been positive. We constantly encounter the attitude of ‘Yay, we’re getting our own Deli Delicious’ as we enter these new markets,” said Nate Gilbert with franchisee sales at the company. “Community members have been very supportive of our restaurant.”
Additional sandwich shops will also be opening throughout the summer at 264 N. St. in Downtown Fresno, 200 E. Acequia Ave. in Visalia, and 1624 Howard Rd. in Madera, the second location in that community.
The company’s growth plans also include expansion into several new markets this summer, including Sacramento and the Bay Area. Deli Delicious will open its first restaurants in Stockton, Downtown Sacramento, Elk Grove and San Jose over the next few months, all of which are being developed by new franchisees, Gilbert said.
Currently, the company’s footprint reaches from Los Angeles to the East Bay and parts of the Central Coast, and company officials said they are “sitting at 117 units total.”
“[Deli Delicious] has prided itself with providing consistently unmatched professional support services to our franchisee community,” said Ali Nekumanesh, executive vice president at Deli Delicious Franchising, Inc. “As a result, our franchise system is strong, opportunities for the American Dream of business ownership are present and the path for growth is clear and exciting.”
According to the company, each planned location will be around 1,500 square feet and is expected to create between 10 and 15 jobs. Many of the new sites will also feature digital menu boards and patio seating.
Existing restaurants will also be upgraded to digital menus and the chain recently began grilling chicken breast and tri-tip onsite to offer customers new meat options. A new online ordering platform is also being rolled out to several stores this spring.
The statewide growth plans have prompted an internal expansion in Fresno as well, and Gilbert said Deli Delicious recently opened a new franchise support office at 2495 W. Shaw Ave., in northwest Fresno. The new facility will host monthly training meetings and bi-annual multi-unit workshops for franchisees.
The events are free to the owners and designed to provide ongoing training and show operators how to grow from a single-store to multi-unit franchisee.
