A new industrial laundry facility from uniform service company Cintas is being built in a fast-growing part of south Fresno.

Located on seven acres, the 55,000 square-foot facility at 2920 S. East Ave., just north of North Avenue, is being built by Arco/Murray National Construction, Inc. Brian Delbecq, the regional production director for Cintas in Northern California, said the facility will be used to launder uniforms for clients.

“The washers that we bring in are able to handle 450 pounds to sometimes 900 pounds a load,” Delbecq said. “So we’re very, very efficient at washing, cleaning and drying garments.”

While the new facility is being built near the new distribution centers for both Amazon and Ulta, Delbecq said the plans for the laundry facility were in play long before those other projects were envisioned. He said Cintas purchased the land approximately eight years ago, but construction was put on hold due to the economy. However, economic circumstances have improved, necessitating the new site.

“The growth of Fresno’s just been phenomenal,” Delbecq said.

Cintas also acquired G&K Services, Inc., a uniform service headquartered in Minnesota, last year. One of G&K’s locations is in Fresno.

Delbecq said that he is hopeful that Cintas will be moved into the new building by September. He said 50 to 60 new jobs would be created by the facility.

Delbecq declined to disclose the total cost of the project.
