The City of Chowchilla’s finances are clean for the third year in a row following an independent audit.

“An audit by an independent certified public accounting firm is essential to ensure that public funds have been expended as legally required,” states a press release from City Administrator Brian Haddix.

“Another significant reason for an independent audit is because many cities have experienced financial difficulties, and buyers of local government debt securities rely on financial statements as a basis for investment,” the statement continues.

“In part, this has contributed to Chowchilla seeing a strengthening of its bond rating, which has risen to an A rating by Standard & Poors of its General Fund.”

Haddix also noted that the findings by auditing firm Price Page are important benchmarks for Chowchilla, which has struggled in the past with its finances, and “three straight years of a clean audit validates that the City is on a healthy financial path for the future.”
