Macy’s will unveil its new off-price concept at its department store in Fashion Fair Mall.

Macy’s Backstage will open on May 18, featuring out-of-season clothes, furniture and toys bought at bulk for sale at discount.

The 14,000 square foot supplement to the department store will take over existing space in the second floor of the Macy’s in the men’s department.

The first 100 customers will receive special giveaways when the store opens at 9 a.m.

Macy’s Backstage features off-price inventory from clothing to jewelry furniture and toys. It features brands not regularly seen at Macy’s, but a few familiar brands will make appearances on the racks. The Fashion Fair location will also feature gourmet foods, home decor, pet supplies, kid’s shoes and electronics.

The aim for the department store giant is to create a shopping experience out of the “thrill of the hunt,” a Macy’s representative said in an interview with The Business Journal last year. A dedicated buying team sources inventory to stock shelves.

In June 2018, the department store added a Backstage to its location in the Visalia Mall. They celebrated the event with a DJ, photo booth and food vendors. Nationwide, the company has opened 194 locations and plans to open 50 more this year.
