The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District is offering businesses and public agencies up to $6,000 to install public electric vehicle chargers.

The program, part of the district’s new Charge Up! grants program, aims to provide convenient access to charging devices for the state’s growing population of electric vehicles.

Charge Up! awards up to $5,000 for a single-port, Level 2 charger and up to $6,000 for a two-port charger. There is an annual funding cap of $50,000 per applicant, and grants are awarded on a first-come, first serviced basis until the first round of $2 million is exhausted.

Contracts must be executed before chargers are purchased and installed. For more information, visit http://www.valleyair.org/grants/chargeup.htm
