How did you come to your position at the Holiday Inn Airport?
I’ve been very fortunate to have had some great opportunities in hospitality and when I moved back to the Valley, I made a point to expand my knowledge with opportunities that would prepare me for a job like this. When I started here over 3 years ago, the hotel was going through major changes and challenges. There were really great people here and I could see all the potential they had. That’s what really attracted me to this job, the challenge of it.

What we do:
The firm started in 2004 with me as the only attorney, and we now have three attorneys and four support staff. We do only bankruptcy and insolvency work. We love crafting solutions to difficult financial problems for clients. Clients often walk in the door weighed down by financial problems and walk out with a viable game plan to deal with those problems. Larry and Susan Early approached me to take over as the vice president of sales and oversee the day-to-day operations of the company. Larry’s passing led to my promotion as corporate vice president and a partnership with Susan. In the spring of 2013, Susan decided to sell Dumont Printing and asked if I would be interested in purchasing the company. The sale was finalized in January 2014.

Tell us a little about your career path to your current position.
I spent a brief amount of time practicing law before transitioning to a career in business, beginning as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. in Los Angeles.  I moved to northern California in 2000 to join a San Francisco based private equity firm, where I invested in privately held businesses, serving on the boards of those companies, and helping the businesses improve and grow.  In 2011, I began to focus on investing in the education sector and served on the boards of companies serving both the K-12 and college markets.  In early 2012, I stepped in to serve as the CEO of a large career college based in Virginia, which ultimately led to my current role leading Heald College beginning in the fall of 2013.
