Startups and entrepreneurs will have a chance to win $150,000 and other prizes through a competition focused on finding valuable uses for wastewater.
The competition, put on by nonprofit Imagine H20, will be discussed in detail during a workshop Sept. 28 at the Claude Laval Water & Energy Technology Incuabator on the campus of Fresno State.
As part of the competition, any business idea using wastewater as a resource will be considered and judged by a panel of industry leaders, academic experts and seasoned investors.
Finalists will enter Imagine H20's Accelerator Program designed to help startups excel in their market with an advanced network of business service providers, industry mentors, investors, beta-customers and other partners.
At the end, $150,000 in cash and in-kind services will be distributed amongst the competition's winners and runner-ups.
The competition seeks to find ways to use the massive amounts of wastewater coming out of the industrial, commercial and residential sectors every year that doesn't require costly chemical or biological treatments.
Entries will be accepted from Sept. 1 to Nov. 15 at Imagine H20's website.
