Valley airports funded for upgrades

Hanford Municipal Airport began operating in 1938Three Valley airports were awarded a total of $850,000 to upgrade facilities and replace outdated equipment.
The grants come from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.
Hanford Municipal Airport received $393,300 for a project that will rehabilitate its taxiway to improve safety and minimize debris and another to replace the airport's rotating beacon.
The Firebaugh Airport got $164,460 to continue rehabilitating its taxiway in order to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement.
Delano Municipal Airport was funded with $300,000 to install a wildlife perimeter fence and rehabilitate its existing apron pavement.
"Our regional and municipal airports connect our Valley to cities throughout our state and beyond," said Rep. Jim Costa (D-Fresno), announcing the award. "This grant will create needed jobs and allow these airports to make necessary improvements that will boost capacity and protect the safety of passengers."
