New lifestyle magazine launches in Fresno

Fresno's newest print media foray — Fresno Life Magazine — is celebrating its launch this week with a party.
Fresno Life Magazine, whose inaugural issue features an interview with Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin, will host a launch party tomorrow at The Lime Lite in Fresno from 5 to 8 p.m.
FLM describes itself as a "...content-driven magazine that represents a full spectrum of the city’s culture: dining, entertainment, fashion, health, political issues, and business offerings that define a lifestyle that is uniquely and proudly Fresno."
Nedal Habbas of Fresno is the publisher and CEO. He is a 2005 Fresno State graduate who also previously worked for Fresno Magazine, which announced the end of its print run in April.
The magazine enters a burgeoning competition for the print lifestyle niche in the Central Valley, with The Fresno Bee launching its own "Central Valley" lifestyle magazine in March.
Fresno Life Magazine plans a print run of up to 18,000 copies, and has estimated readership upwards of 45,000, according to its media kit. It will be direct mailed to subscribers and will be distributed in medical offices, retail outlets, hotels and other local businesses.
"Our editorial content will be determined by community interest, not by advertisers," according to the media kit.
Guests at the launch party will receive free the 52-page initial edition, and will have a chance to sign up for a free one-year subscription. It will be a monthly publication, though the initial issue covers November and December.
