David McDonald, former CEO of Pelco, will bring back a 9-11 memorial museum to Clovis that the company once housed at its campus off Peach Avenue.
Hundreds of photos, newspaper clippings and an American flag flown at Ground Zero are all among the items that have been donated to the California Memorial Museum that Pelco built in 2001 to commemorate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that took thousands of lives in New York City that year.
The collection was passed on to McDonald last November as Pelco announced a relocation of the museum from its former site near the company's manufacturing facility at 3500 Pelco Way in Clovis.
Now, the items are on display in the lobby of the Veterans Memorial Building located on the corner of Fourth and Hughes streets in Old Town Clovis.
The building's lobby is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
"We are absolutely delighted to have our facility be the new home for the museum," said Clovis Veterans Memorial District's Board Chairman Tom Wright in a statement. "This collection and the inspiring story behind it are vital parts of our regional history. These priceless heirlooms are in good hands with us. With our weekend hours of operations, far more people can now enjoy this experience than before."
