ERI announces free recycling events in Fresno

Electronic Reyclers International processes more than 160 million pounds of electronic waste annuallyElectronic Reyclers International processes more than 160 million pounds of electronic waste annuallyBeginning Feb. 23, Electronic Recyclers International of Fresno will hold four large recycling events during the year at its headquarters to take in old computer monitors, televisions and other unwanted electronic items.

The "Recyclathon" events, which are being promoted on KSEE-TV (Channel 24), will run Feb. 23, May 4, Aug. 24 and Nov. 9 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at ERI's Fresno headquarters at 2860 S. East Ave.

All kinds of household electronic items will be taken in at no charge, including televisions, computer equipment, printers, cell phones, stereo systems and microwaves.

California law prohibits electronic waste from being disposed of in landfills, where chemicals can seep into the ground threatening water supplies.

ERI, the country's largest recycler of electronic waste, processes more than 160 million pounds of electronic waste annually at eight facilities in seven U.S. states, including California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Texas and Washington.
