Blog: Kern Co. tops in employment growth

According to analysis of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics by the On Numbers blog, Kern County has the second longest active streak of consecutive months with private sector job growth of the major markets in California.
The San Jose area was the only other market with more consecutive months.
San Jose has had 23 months of private sector job growth. Bakersfield follows closely behind with 22 and Los Angeles comes in third with 21 months.
Fresno ranks seventh of the 11 metropolitan areas with 16 consecutive months.
Modesto is the only area without consecutive months of private sector job growth and has declined in that statistic for the last 16 months.
El Paso, Texas, leads the nation with 26 months of private sector job growth.
