University High School in top 10 by study

The charter school was named one of California's top 10 charter campuses by the University of Southern California in the college's sixth annual School Performance Dashboard.

 

University High tied for seventh with two Los Angeles area schools and a Bay Area school in measures of financial health and academic performance, including state test scores and classroom spending.

The report, compiled by USC's Center on Educational Governance, uses data from 2003 to 2011 to rate California's charter schools.

In May, University High was also named the 10th best high school in California and the 10th best charter school in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.

On Newsweek's America's Best School List, the school was named it the 7th best high school in California and the 80th best high school in the nation.

University High, chartered in 2000, enrolls around 470 students with an emphasis in music, arts and college preparatory classes.

The school is located in a facility on the east side of the Fresno State campus.
