University High School ranked among best schools

University High SchoolUniversity High SchoolUniversity High School on the campus of Fresno State was named the 10th best charter school in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.


The ranking was out of 21,776 high schools in the U.S. evaluated in terms of test scores, graduation rates and AP courses offered per student.

The news organization also listed UHS as the 46th best high school in the nation and the 10th best high school in California.

The high school also made Newsweek's America's Best School List as the 7th best high school in California and the 80th best in the nation.

On the Washington Post's High School Challenge list of America's most challenging high schools, UHS ranked as the 10th best high school in California and the 85th best in the nation.

This year, UHS has already been named a California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll School was earned its sixth consecutive national championship in the Academic Decathlon competition for small high schools.

University High School is an independent charter school in the Fresno Unified School District chartered in 2000.

The school enrolls 470 students with an emphasis in music, arts and college preparatory courses.
