A Fresno senior living community will hold a special groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, March 8 as it kicks off the second phase of construction of its $120 million renovation, the community said in a release.
The project at the Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens will include a new commons building, new residential living and health care accommodations, office space and underground parking.
“The new commons area will be a comfortable and welcoming place for residents to gather for social, educational and cultural events,” Jessica Lopez, executive director of the senior living community, said in the release. “It’s going to be the heart and soul of the community, and residents are already excited about all the possibilities the new spaces will offer.”
The commons building will serve as the community’s main hub, with a café, fine dining restaurant, sports grill and a fine arts center. It will also house an auditorium and the community’s administrative offices. A residential living building and healthcare accommodations will be built next to the commons area. According to The Business Journal’s 2012 Book of Lists, The Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens is the 12th largest senior living facility in the Central San Joaquin Valley.
The first phase of construction featured 47 new residential apartments, a pool, fitness center and spa, bistro and interior and exterior renovations on existing garden homes.
The Terraces at San Joaquin Gardens is located at 5555 N. Fresno St. The March 8 groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
