Kaiser Permanente

In an effort to become more environmentally-conscious, Kaiser Permanente switched over to electronic record keeping last year. The move has earned them accolades.

Recently, the health care provider — with locations in Fresno and throughout the Central Valley — was honored with 12 Stage 7 awards from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. The award is given to providers that have successfully achieved electronic record implementation.

“We are realizing our vision of connected care with electronic health records supporting collaboration and communication among care teams and patients,” said Philip Fasano, senior vice president and chief information officer with Kaiser. “The Stage 7 awards value the important role of health IT in improving the quality of care and the overall patient experience, and these are the very objectives at the heart of Kaiser Permanente’s health IT efforts.”

Out of the 39 hospitals that received the award, 24 of those were Kaiser locations in California.
